Project Description
This project was a refresh of the previous Wellington Region Spaces and Places Strategy to ensure it remained relevant through consideration of changing circumstances including population growth and the region’s changing demographic make-up. The refreshed strategy provides a solutions and future-focussed document to help guide investment decision-making for the region’s spaces and places network.
RSL's Role
RSL led delivery of the project, with direction and guidance provided by a regional Project Steering Group. Key project components included partner and stakeholder engagement, data and strategic analysis, facility gap and oversupply analysis, prioritisation and development of a regional decision making framework and recommendations on future priorities.
Project Outcome
This Strategy guides the approach to regional planning, provision and decision-making for active recreation and sport spaces and places (assets and facilities) in the Wellington region. It provides an update to, and replaces, the 2019 Wellington Region Spaces and Places Strategy.
