Project Description

Sport Hawke’s Bay facilitated the development of a Sports Field Review for the Hawke’s Bay region to understand the current network of sports fields and supporting (ancillary) facilities. The Review aimed to investigate what is required to ensure a fit-for-purpose sports field network is available in the future across all four Hawke’s Bay Council areas.

RSL’s Role

Demand modelling was undertaken to determine the shape of the future sports field network for the relevant sports codes. Analysis then determined if the current level of sports field provision was able to cater for future needs. An assessment of ancillary sports field facilities was also provided.

Project Outcome

Principles were adopted to guide planning for the sports field network. Recommendations for sports field provision were provided at both a regional and district/city (local) level.
