Project Description

The purpose of this project was to assess the feasibility of developing a new purpose-built gym sports facility for Affinity Gymnastics Club in Rolleston. This was intended to replace their current leased premises which had been a temporary facility.

RSL's Role

RSL led the feasibility assessment with support from the Project Steering Group of Affinity Gymnastics Club, Selwyn District Council and Sport Canterbury. The study considered future demand, facility requirements, site options, capital and operating costs, and governance considerations.

Project Outcome

The feasibility proposed the development of a new purpose-built gym sports facility for Affinity Gymnastics Academy in Rolleston with space for other groups. The facility would met the requirements of a sub-regional hub and provide a fit-for-purpose space space to meet growing demand from the district’s rapidly increasing youth population.
